Nov 24, 2024, "Freedom from Worry," Worship Service with Sermon by Pastor Kent Berghuis

We all tend to worry about the cares of life. Some may worry about necessities like food and clothing. Others worry about relationships, success and failure, and what the world might be like. In our texts for the "Reign of Christ" Sunday, Daniel 7:9-10 and Revelation 1:4-8, Jesus is presented as King of kings, the ruler of a kingdom that never passes away. In a Thanksgiving text from the Sermon on the Mount, Matthew 6:25-33, Jesus tells us not to worry, but rather to seek the kingdom first and we will be cared for. If the King of the universe cares for us, we can learn to trust and seek him and his kingdom as a priority in our lives. We can be thankful for all God’s provisions, and find a life more free from worry. Service includes a stewardship moment from our treasurer, Barry Schlaile; a word about hurrican relief from our mission board by Ted Greenwood; Scripture reading by Gina Greenwood; children's message by Pastor Jason Alspaugh; prayers led by Pastor David Coggins; Chancel Choir anthem, "Now Thank We All Our God," arr. Johann Cruger, directed by William Henry Caldwell; Organist Gregory Land.
