Trump Hosts Round Table on Sanctuary Cities
(20 Mar 2018) President Donald Trump convened some of the nation's top law enforcement officials to speak out against so-called sanctuary cities Tuesday as he continues his crackdown on jurisdictions that try to flout federal immigration laws. Speaking as negotiators on the Hill tried to hash out government-wide spending bill that may or may not include funding for his promised border wall, Trump accused cities that fail to cooperate with immigration authorities of "causing a lot of problems for this country" by releasing "thousands of criminal aliens" who should be deported. "Sanctuary cities in states like California put innocent Americans at the mercy of hardened criminals," Trump said, "yet, House and Senate democrats voted nearly unanimously in favor of sanctuary cities." Mary Ann Mendoza, whose son was killed by an illegal alien, says that this is a "crime spree" that is going unpunished. "This is actually a mass murder happening in the United States by illegal aliens killing American citizens," she said.
