Tradition or Superstition? What do you eat on New Years Day? See description ⬇️ #shorts #happy #fyp

Happy New Year, Buddies! ✨ Tradition or Superstition? I kicked off 2025 with a meal rooted in Black History, tradition, and superstition. I cooked black-eyed peas, greens, and pork. 🌟 Black-Eyed Peas: A symbol of good luck and prosperity, dating back to the Civil War, when peas became a sign of survival and abundance. I’ve read stories that our ancestors survived off peas when nothing else was available. 💵 Greens: (Collards) Representing money and financial success for the year. The green color reminds us to claim wealth and abundance for the new year! 🐖 Pork: (Fried Ribs) A symbol of progress and moving forward. Because pigs stand forward with their snouts. 🍞 For many, cornbread also symbolizes stability & comfort. A staple in Southern and African American cuisine for generations often paired with beans and greens, cornbread completes the meal with a touch of sweetness. This meal, eaten year after year, is more than food. It’s a tradition rooted in resilience✊🏾, culture, and hope for a better future. I’m happy that I grew up eating this way and honored to pay homage to our ancestors while manifesting blessings for the year ahead. What did you all eat to start the year off right? What other superstitions or traditions did you take part of?
