Good morning and welcome to the celebration of the Holy Mass for Wednesday after the Epiphany of the Lord. The word that sums up the readings for today is love. Our reading from 1 John is all about love. God is love and he loves each one of us. Do you believe this? Because God loves us we are called to love one another. Remember that if we abide in God, God abides in us. In our Gospel we have the story of Jesus walking on the water and the disciples are full of fear when they see this. No matter what our situation in life, God is always with us. Jesus' words to the disciples when he saw their fear was: "It is I; do not be afraid". This is a phrase we can repeat often when we feel that we are alone and life seems overwhelming. Remember that God is love and full of mercy. His compassion is beyond our understanding. Let us give praise and thanks to God for his presence in our lives. You may have noticed that our Psalm Refrain has been the same the last few days. It is a reminder that the Ephiphany is such a glorious event. Through the Epiphany no one is excluded from the presence of God. Yes, every nation on earth can adore the Lord! Our Psalm today is Psalm 72: "Lord, every nation on earth will adore you".
