I've sung this song in Ancient Greek before, but this version is translated from the Modern Greek while the other one is translated from the English. Rapunzel's Modern Greek singing voice is provided by Rena Morfi. I sing the Ancient Greek versions myself. Please be warned I'm a translator, not a singer. I never claimed I could sing! NOTE: I'm no video editing expert, and getting the audio of this song (instrumental by MisticalMermaid) to fit onto the video was a NIGHTMARE. I FINALLY did it by producing a sort of 'glitch' on the shot of the tower and on the shot of Rapunzel's feet. I'm sorry if you find this jarring but it means that the audio is almost completely in sync with Rapunzel's mouth movements :) As this a linguistic comparison video, you may have noticed my pronunciation is closer to Modern Greek. Perfecting other accents isn't exactly a trait the English are famous for, especially non-Romance ones, but I've done my best. Please excuse errors! :P For scholarly purists, I researched Greek phonology before doing this and discovered that the pronunciation I've used was dialectic in the 5th century BC and was more widespread by the 3rd century BC, so it is technically still 'Ancient Greek'. It just isn't the British reconstructed Attic dialect. This is a long shot, but if you're studying/teaching Ancient Greek and would like me to re-record this with British reconstructed pronunciation, please let me know and I'll be happy to do so. I don't speak Modern Greek per se. I can translate it with a dictionary if it's written down, and I can figure out the gist of it spoken if there are subtitles.
