Georgia family pleads for justice in military veteran's deadly hit-and-run case

A Georgia family is pleading for the person who hit and killed their loved one in Midfield to surrender to the police. Midfield police say 45-year-old Derric Cox was struck by a white Chevy Impala back on June 6th around 11:30 a.m. in the 500 block of Bessemer Super Highway. Cox, an Atlanta native and Army veteran, was giving blood moments before he was killed according to his family. Cox's mother said her son was living in Birmingham temporarily while working at the VA Hospital. He leaves behind one daughter and two sons.
