Aramaic Project-140-F: Puqdankon (requiem melody)
Following the Latin tradition, the Syro Malabar Catholics used different melodies for the requiem mass; The text remained the same. Here we hear the first example of a requiem melody for Puqdankon. The project to document melodies of other chant texts is becoming more and more difficult because the practitioners of this music are getting older and dying out. Fortunately, we got this recording from the collection of Fr. Cyril Thayyil, who is one fo the two co-singers. See note on Aramaic Project-140 • Aramaic Project-140.
