Bob Ralston at the Renaissance Wurlitzer - Wunderbar

A few years ago, we went to the small town of Mansfield, Ohio, to shoot video promos for a concert Bob Ralston was scheduled to do later in the year in Toledo. Bob was doing a show at the Renaissance Theatre in Mansfield. He cut a whole series of :30 spots for our local PBS station promoting the concert. After we cut the spots, I asked him if he would be kind enough to record a song on video. Just off the top of my head, I suggested "Wunderbar" from "Kiss Me Kate" - by the great Cole Porter. With no music, no preparation whatsoever, and no time to even think about registrations, Bob turned around on the console and played it perfectly. The organ is a 3/20 Wurlitzer known as the "Hollywood Wurlitzer" since that was its origin in 1929. The instrument was in flawless working condition. Of course, for 40 years, Bob was the organist and pianist on the Lawrence Welk Show, and he toured the country playing theatre pipe organ concerts. (He did two SRO shows in Toledo.)
