"LONG AGO AND FAR AWAY" STEVE LAWRENCE (Covergirl) ** RITA HAYWORTH TRIBUTE** (HD)

"Long Ago (and Far Away)" was written by Jerome Kern, and Ira Gershwin from the 1944 film musical “Covergirl”. It has been recorded by many artists including Jo Stafford, Perry Como, Chet Baker, Rosemary Clooney, Judy Garland, Eydie Gorme, Johnny Mathis and Mel Torme. This version by Steve Lawrence was featured on his 1964 studio album “Academy Award Losers”. The film “Covergirl” starred actors Rita Hayworth and Gene Kelly. Hayworth sings the song in the film but her voice is dubbed by Martha Mears. Screen Goddess Rita Hayworth was primarily an actress and dancer of the 1940s and 1950s who made over 61 films. She received iconic status as a femme fatale for her role opposite Glenn Ford in the film noir "Gilda". I found it funny how she would lament that when men went to bed with her they were with Gilda, but when they woke up they found themselves with Rita Hayworth! Enjoy! Thanks For Your Comments.
