Demonstration of therapeutic hypothermia
Nurses at Allen Hospital in Waterloo, Ia. perform a demonstration of "therapeutic hypothermia," a new procedure which preserves the brain tissue patients during a cardiac arrest. Using chilling pads, anti-shivering medication and cold IV fluids, the body's temperature is dropped about eight degrees.
