Storage in the energy transition: which concerns, which perspectives?

Storage in the energy transition: which concerns, which perspectives?

Storage is due to be an essential pillar of the future multi-energy system. Storing electrons and molecules shall keep contributing, in different measure and forms, to providing flexibility and stability to the future energy generation and ultimately to making it sustainable. How has gas storage adapted to economic changes in recent years, and what will its role be in the transition towards a decarbonised EU energy system? Will hydrogen be a constitutive energy carrier? Ilaria Conti (FSR) discusses with Michael Schmöltzer (Uniper Energy Storage) the perspective of a Storage System Operator in the energy transition. The interview was recorded on the margins of the FSR-GIE Policy Workshop “Which energy storage for the flexibility needs of a multi-energy system?”, which took place on the 27th of May 2019 in Florence: http://fsr.eui.eu/event/which-energy-...
