Prune Your Way to Fruitfulness — Wednesday House of Prayer 1-23-19 — Cheryl Segura
Disciples of Christ are called to produce fruit. We are to abide in Him as the branch is attached and belongs to the vine. Branches that do not bear fruit, areas of our lives that do not bear fruit must be pruned away. True disciples / followers are distinguished by the fact that they do bear fruit. This is the “inner fruit.” The world will recognize true disciples by their abiding in Christ and bearing fruit by loving one another. The purpose is to bring glory to God. Bearing of fruit nourishes God’s church. Outer manifestation of fruit comes from letting our light shine. (Matthew 5:16) We should cultivate a desire to “work for His good pleasure” by bearing much fruit. (Philippians 2:13) We must deliberately prune out those things in our life that prevent or interfere with our bearing fruit. (Idols, rebellion, selfishness, materialism…) Allowing idols in our life can produce unfruitfulness. We should actively look for those areas of unfruitfulness in our life, and deliberately begin engaging in fruitful work. Matthew 28:19-20 John 15:8 Galatians 5: 22-23 (The fruit of the spirit…) Matthew 5:16 Proverbs 11:30 John 15:1-8 Philippians 2:13 2 Chronicles chapters 34-35
