Psoriasis is an auto-immune skin disorder which can affect any part of the body. The different types of psoriasis can be listed as follows. Plaque psoriasis - this usually affects the elbow joints, knee joints, lower back and the scalp. The skin becomes dry and scaly and patients experience a lot of itching. Nail psoriasis - this affects the fingernails and toenails. There is abnormal growth of nails and change in the nail color. Guttate psoriasis - this usually affects the chest, arms or legs. There is a certain pathogen which is responsible for aggravating the condition of psoriasis. Inverse psoriasis - this usually affects the waist, buttocks or the lower part of the breast in females. Patients who have fungal infection have high chances of developing this kind of psoriasis. Pustular psoriasis - this is a rare type of psoriasis in which there is formation of pus in the psoriasis patches. Erythrodermic psoriasis - this can happen on any part of the body. Small red spots appear on the skin. Patients experience severe itching and irritation. Psoriasis patients experience a lot of itching on their affected areas, their skin turns scaly and they feel a lot of irritation and burning sensations. They might even start bleeding if they scratch too hard.
