Senate Majority Leader Bakk Outlines Senate DFL Budget Plan

Senate Majority Leader Tom Bakk joins Julie Bartkey for a special edition of Capitol Report to outline the Senate DFL budget plan for the coming biennium, FY 2014-2015. The Senate DFL sets a two-year General Fund budget at $38.15 billion dollars, which is slightly more than Governor Dayton's $37.9 billion dollar plan. Under the Senate DFL plan, E-12 education would receive an additional $486 million dollars, which is about $350 million more than Governor Dayton's proposal. Also, the Senate DFL proposes deeper cuts in Health and Human Services, reducing funding by $323 million dollars.
