SuperNews! - "Christmas Wars" Original air date: December 20, 2006

SuperNews! - Episode 30 - Commentary by Josh Faure-Brac Yes! Another classic! This one I sorta forgot about but, man, it's good. A Bill O'Reilly Christmas fever dream. This was back when the biggest threat to the right was a growing trend of retail chains switching from "Merry Christmas" to "Happy Holidays". So, if you tuned in to Fox news around Christmas, this would take up half the air-time. There'd be a whole panel discussion about it. Seriously. And no one was wetting their pants more than Bill O'Reilly. But I thought it was a dumb thing to worry about because, come on, Christmas is king! It's twenty years later and nothing has put a dent into the dominant holiday power of Christmas. You can't front on Santa and Christmas trees and pumpkin spice lattes. The first thing that I remembered re-watching this is that I really, really wanted to do the Bill O'Reilly voice myself but I just couldn't pull it off in a way I liked. So I called in an old friend from VH1's Illustrated to do it. Dean Julian, job well done. I love that hippy in the beginning. We should have used him more. And the Lez-bots?? How did we never bring them back?? This one was really fun and I'm stoked we're re-sharing this with you all again this Christmas. Happy Holidays!
