Amity United Church of Christ Transfiguration Sunday March 2, 2025 The Call to Worship – Psalm 99, NKJV L: The LORD reigns; Let the peoples tremble! He dwells between the cherubim; Let the earth be moved! P: The LORD is great in Zion, And He is high above all the peoples. L: Let them praise Your great and awesome name -- He is holy. P: The King’s strength also loves justice; You have established equity; You have executed justice and righteousness in Jacob. L: Exalt the LORD our God, And worship at His footstool -- He is holy. P: Moses and Aaron were among His priests, And Samuel was among those who called upon His name; They called upon the LORD, and He answered them. L: He spoke to them in the cloudy pillar; They kept His testimonies and the ordinance He gave them. P: You answered them, O LORD our God; You were to them God-Who-Forgives, Though You took vengeance on their deeds. All: Exalt the LORD our God, And worship at His holy hill; For the LORD our God is holy. The Prayer of Confession Father, forgive us. You have told us to listen to Your beloved Son, and we have failed. We have heard His words, but we have failed to actually listen. We have memorized but not obeyed. We have read how He has told us to live, but have chosen to live according to the culture that surrounds us. Help us to take to heart the words of Your Son. Help us to live according to Your will, and not according to our own. Help us to reflect the light that shone so brightly in Him on that mountaintop so long ago. In Jesus’ name, Amen. Apostles Creed I believe in God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and Earth: And in Jesus Christ His only Son, our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; He descended into hell; the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into Heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God, the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen
