Recently, North Korean state media has been showcasing an array of renewable energy initiatives, including wind turbines attached to streetlights and solar panels installed on both residential homes and high-rise buildings. North Koreans have long shown a keen interest in sustainable energy solutions, to the point that small wind turbines for home use once served as popular wedding gifts. Given North Korea's acute electricity shortage, its people have been attempting to produce energy on their own accord. Efforts include a range of initiatives including the construction of small-scale hydroelectric and floating power generation stations to the utilization of methane gas at home.
