French and Irish FMs on Raab saying he expects Brexit deal by Nov 21
(31 Oct 2018) France's Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian and his Irish counterpart Simon Coveney have had their say on claims a Brexit deal could be finalised next month. The two foreign ministers spoke at a news conference in Paris on Wednesday and responded to the UK Brexit Secretary Dominic Raab's comments that a divorce deal with the EU can be finalised by November 21. Coveney said he believed it was "possible" to get a deal finished by November, but only if Britain honoured its previous commitments on the Irish border issue. Le Drian said the negotiations had reached "a moment of truth" and urged the UK to protect the "durability" of the Good Friday Agreement. Britain is due to leave the EU on March 29, but London and Brussels have not reached an agreement on their divorce terms and a smooth transition to a new relationship.
