So, “Supergirl” just released. The next chapter in James Gunn’s DCU, starring Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El, adapted from Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, the 2021 graphic novel by Tom King, Bilquis Evely, and Mat Lopes. I was very excited for this movie when it was first announced. I think the original comic is great, especially the amazing art and colors. And while I think the movie has plenty of faults especially when viewing it as an adaptation of the comic. On the whole it’s still a solid time with a great lead actor in the role that that excites me about the character’s future in the DCU. There are a lot of strong opinions out there about this movie. And I mean very strong opinions. It’s gotten to the point where the discourse around the movie has overshadowed talking about the movie itself.
