Word of God Saturday Week 29 Ordinary Time

Gospel: Lk 13, 1-9 “Unless you repent, you will all perish as they did.” A reading from the Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Luke. At that time, some people told Jesus about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mingled with the blood of their sacrifices. Jesus said to them, “Do you think that these Galileans were worse sinners than all the other Galileans because they suffered in this way? No, I tell you. But unless you repent, you will all perish as they did. Or those eighteen who were killed when the tower of Siloam fell on them—do you think that they were worse sinners than all the others living in Jerusalem? No, I tell you. But unless you repent, you will all perish as they did.” He also told them this parable: “A man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard. He came looking for fruit on it and found none. So he said to the gardener, ‘Look, for three years I have come looking for fruit on this fig tree and have found none. Cut it down! Why should it continue to take up the ground?’ But he said to him, ‘Sir, let it alone for one more year, until I dig around it and put fertilizer on it. If it bears fruit next year, it may well bear fruit. But if not, you can cut it down next year.’” This is the word of the Lord.
