Today: Peace with Justice Sunday, February 16, Special Offering: “Therefore, since we are justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.”— Romans 5:1, NRSV Peace with Justice Sunday is a faithful expression of shalom in the Bible. It calls the church to strengthen its capacity to advocate publicly in communities and nations throughout the world. The offering is administered by the General Board of Church and Society and benefits peace with justice ministries in the annual conferences and around the world. Half of our gifts stay with local ministries in this conference and half support the work of Church and Society globally. The United Methodist Church, the world and our communities are in a time of transition. Now, perhaps more than ever, we are called to be part of extending healing and hope. Through our gifts and support, we partner with God and God’s people to strengthen Christ’s loving presence in a hurting world. The New sermon series: Won't You Be My Neighbor? I grew up watching Mister Rogers' Neighborhood and hearing that question asked of me at least once a day. What it means to be a good neighbor is a question that was perplexing to people of faith in Jesus' day and it is a challenge for us today as we live in a diverse (and often divisive) society. Our next sermon series: Wisdom from the Neighborhood, draws inspiration from the book The Simple Faith of Mister Rogers and will help us think about how we can live out our faith and be good neighbors today. —Rev. Jeff Ozanne Lenten Book Study: We will be studying the book Simon Peter: Flawed but Faithful Disciple by Adam Hamilton. Peter was just an ordinary guy who heard and followed God's extraordinary call. Discover how you, too, have special gifts, talents, and abilities that God can use to make a difference today. We will be offering three opportunities for this book study: Sunday mornings, beginning on March 9, at 9 am; Monday mornings, starting March 10, at 11 am; and Wednesday evenings, starting on March 12, at 6 pm. If you are interested in the study, please let the office know, including whether you want us to order a copy of the book for you, by Sunday, February 23. JRLC 2025 Day on the Hill: The Joint Religious Legislative Coalition (JRLC) is sponsoring Day on the Hill on Thursday, February 27, 2025, at Central Presbyterian Church (500 Cedar St, St. Paul). The focus will be on Women, Children, and Families. This is an exciting opportunity to gather and advocate for women, children, and families living in poverty and bring JRLC’s unique voice to the Minnesota State Capitol!
