Today's Catholic Mass Readings and Gospel Reflection April 1, 2023 | Lent | prayer | John 11:45-56 Catholic Daily Mass Readings for April 1, 2023 Saturday of the Fifth Week of Lent 1st Reading Ezekiel 37:21-28 Responsorial Psalm Jeremiah 31:10, 11-12ABCD, 13 Verse Before the Gospel Ezekiel 18:31 Gospel John 11:45-56 Today’s Reflection on the Readings My dear brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus, in the Gospel Reading from John 11:45-56, we see the reaction of the people to the miracle of Jesus raising Lazarus from the dead. Many who witnessed the miracle believed in Jesus, but others went to the Pharisees to report what had happened. The Pharisees then began to plot against Jesus, seeing His miraculous works as a threat to their power and authority. Jesus, aware of their intentions, withdrew to a town called Ephraim. Dear friends, as we reflect on this passage, we are reminded of the power of Jesus' miracles and teachings to bring people to faith. We are also reminded of the opposition He faced from those threatened by His message. Dear friends, in our own lives, we may also face opposition and resistance when we try to live out our faith and follow Jesus. But we must remember that we are not alone, and that Jesus is with us always. We are called to stand firm in our faith, even in the face of opposition, and to trust in the power of Jesus to bring others to belief. May we be strengthened in our faith and empowered to share the love and truth of Jesus Christ with all those around us. May our lives be a witness to the power of Jesus and the truth of His teachings. Prayer Dear God, we thank you for the month of March and for all the blessings you have showered upon each one of us. We also thank you for blessing us with good health of mind and body to share your Word with the whole world. Dear God, as we reflect on the Gospel reading from John 11:45-56, we are reminded of the power of your love and the strength that comes from following Jesus. As we begin the new month, help us to stand firm in our faith, even when we face opposition and resistance. Grant us the courage to share the love and truth of Jesus Christ with those around us, and to be a witness to His power and teachings. May we never waver in our commitment to you, even in the face of persecution or doubt. We pray for all those who are struggling to believe or who are facing opposition in their faith journey. May they find strength and encouragement in your love and grace, and may they be empowered to share your truth with others. We thank you for the miracle of your love and the hope it brings us. May we always trust in your power and grace to guide us on our journey. May almighty God bless us, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen.
