Hey guys, The Fire Brothers here and in this video, we are going to be going over the newly released Optimus Prime awakening short movie. The meaning of it, the references and the controversy around it. Transformers Awakening is Peter Cullen’s last performance as Optimus Prime in the Transformers franchise, it came as part of the re-release of the Transformers 1986 movie. Now, this short was originally made before Peter Cullen’s tragic passing and its likely that it has been changed quite a bit from the start. The fact that originally wasn’t intended to be a tribute explains some of the strange writing decisions and it has sparked much debate amongst the community if this is a proper send off, a disappointing last appearance, or a cashgrab by the part of Hasbro. Peter Cullen gave Optimus Prime his voice for more than four decades, and his interpretation of the character became inseparable from ideas of compassion, courage, leadership, and his famous principle of being “strong enough to be gentle.” Cullen died in August 2026 at the age of 85.
