Agape World Mission Discipleship Online Ministry: The goal of our teachings is to equip the Believer in Christ to be properly aligned with the Kingdom of God principles to excel in life Recommended pattern of Fasting: 1. 12 Hour Fasting from 6am to 6pm. 2. Break the fast with a cup of tea (milk or black tea – your preference) sweetened with honey 3. Enjoy your meal (you can choose to omit meat and sweets and focus on vegetables and fruits) 4. After that you can drink juice and water, no alcoholic beverages – a believer should not be drinking alcohol anyway (Ephesians 5:18-19) 5. Do not fast if you do not believe in the ministry of fasting, if you are taking medication that require you to eat or have any medical condition that may be affected by fasting. If you are unable to fast for any reason, please devote extra time to prayer and fasting and follow the assigned scripture and prayer focus given. How to fast effectively • Keep the fasting personal and private (Matthew 6:17-18) • Deny self of pleasant things (Daniel 10:2-3; Luke 9:23-24) • Devote time to pray and read the scriptures during fasting period (Acts 2:42 • Maintain a pure heart and a clean heart (Psalm 51:17) • Devote time and resources to the ministry of the needy – give food to the hungry, share clothes with those that don’t have, assist those in need (Isaiah 58:6-10; Proverbs 11:24-25) December 27th 2023 Pray the Lord’s prayer three times prior to reading the scriptures Prayer focus: Repentance, Cleansing and Thanksgiving Focus Scriptures: Psalm 51 (Read the entire psalm – fasting period is always a moment to repent and return to God, cleansing of the heart and soul) Psalms 136 (Read the entire psalm – On this first day we are taking time to thank God for all he has done, above all protecting us this year, thanking Him for His abilities as outlined in the word of this psalm Conclude with a prayer according to the scriptures you have read as guided by the Holy Spirit.
