As Fed makes interest rate decision, Powell says Trump tariffs 'partly' responsible for inflation
Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell announced Wednesday that the United States would hold its interest rate after a two-day meeting. Powell said the Fed intends to keep its two planned cuts for 2025, despite economic uncertainty surrounding President Donald Trump's tariffs sparking a trade war. "We think the right thing to do here is wait for greater clarity in terms of what the economy is doing," Powell said. "It's really hard to know how this is going to work out."
