After a brain aneurysm rupture, can a delayed cerebral ischemia (DCI) be stopped? | Bolz & Lidington

For those who survive the initial bleeding from a brain aneurysm rupture or subarachnoid hemorrhage (type of stroke that can caused by the rupture), a serious complication can happen 7-10 days later. This complication is known as a delayed cerebral ischemia (DCI). It has a high fatality rate and can result in life-long disabilities. Dedicated researchers, Steffen-Sebastian Bolz and Darcy Lidington, have been investigating brain blood flow, the large and small arteries of the brain, and treatments to stop DCI’s from occurring. Brain Aneurysm Foundation research grants have helped them find hopeful results and a potential solution. Want to learn more? Listen here. Funding brain aneurysm research is critical for saving lives.
