It's a little hard to describe that chill nostalgic feeling that wakes up from early childhood from the Silent Hill 2 game. In one simple word that describe the entire game which is today called a masterpiece. As the original game from the past, the new Silent Hill 2 Remake has a certain charm of a good unique game in its modern way, which creates its own soft golden cocoon as a new rough diamond as separate game with the aspect's and story from it's original roots in the form of a masterpiece on it's own. The letter claims that Mary is waiting for James in their "special place", which confuses James, as the whole town of Silent Hill was their "special place". Despite James wondering if the letter is a prank by someone with a twisted sense of humor, he notes that the letter is definitely written in Mary's handwriting and the author is aware James once made a promise to return to Silent Hill with Mary and that he never fulfilled this promise. When James reaches Silent Hill, he discovers that it is not the same, beautiful town it was a few years ago. In addition to the bizarre, omnipresent fog, the whole town seems to be rotting away and abandoned. Macabre, vaguely humanoid creatures are roaming the streets and attempting to attack James whenever possible. When he discovers that the path to his first destination, the lakeside Rosewater Park, is blocked, James decides to pass through an apartment complex to reach what he believes could be the "special place" Mary mentioned in her letter. When James finally reaches Rosewater Park, he meets a woman named Maria, who appears nearly identical to his recently-deceased wife Mary, but showing off more skin and possessing more of an arrogant attitude. During their time together, Maria reveals insight into matters that only he or Mary would know and acts in a very seductive manner toward James. Maria accompanies James in his attempt to reach his second suspected "special place", the Lakeview Hotel that he and Mary once stayed at. The Historical Society becomes an exploration of two levels: Toluca Prison and a labyrinth, in which Pyramid Head resides. In this area, James finds Maria, miraculously alive and locked in a prison cell, who greets him with memories of Mary. The "Leave" ending sees James arrive on the roof of the hotel, converse with Mary one last time, read the letter, and then collect Laura and leave Silent Hill entirely. "In Water," is a bit darker, depicting James committing suicide in the nearby Lake Toluca with Mary's body in the car. In "Maria," James encounters Mary on the roof as she holds contempt for her former husband for killing her. He dismisses her as a hallucination and leaves the town with a now-alive Maria to live a happy life together. Before the camera cuts though, Maria is seen coughing, insinuating she too will get sick just like Mary. The two new endings added to the remake can also be achieved on the first playthrough. Game Endings: Leave - "Overdose Delusion"; In Water - "Angel's Thanatos"; Maria - - "Promise"; New Game+ Endings: Rebirth - "The Reverse Will"; Dog - So it was all your work!"; UFO - "Blue Gem!" Extra 2 New Endings: "Bliss" Ending : The Bliss ending adds another path for James: total denial. Instead of escaping Silent Hill, he chooses to remain within it, trapping himself in what appears to be a fantasy, forever. To get the ending, carry the White Claudia (Potion Drug) with you until you reach Lakeview Hotel. "Stillness" Ending: The Stillness ending suggests James' falling into sorrow, expanding on the "In Water" ending. This is another one you can't reach unless you're on New Game Plus. Break the windows on this car and you should find a new key item, the Key of Sorrow, inside. If you go into your inventory and inspect the Toluca Lake postcard you pulled from the safe, you'll trigger the ending.
