Lichen nitidus: overview, causes, features, histology and management Uncommon eruption of multiple tiny discrete skin coloured shiny papules, often in clusters. Favours flexors, genitalia and trunk. May occur in Koebner phenomenon. On histo the infiltrate is dense & well circumscribed to 2-3 dermal papillae. Epidemiology Rare hard to determine Some authors suggest Females more than Males, and may be associated with Down Syndrome Familial Lichen Nitidus extremely rare Pathogenesis no causative infective agent has been identified Some authors suggest association with Crohn's (bollocks) Clinical Features Numerous tiny discrete skin coloured uniform papules, may have a shiny surface. Pruritus uncommon May exhibit a variety of hues from flesh coloured, erythematous, violaceous, to yellow-brown Nail involvement in 10% of pts with pitting, rippling, and longitudinal ridging May exhibit Koebner phenomenon May have generalised, or perforating form (rare) Disclaimer: This video is for education and entertainment purposes only and does not constitute medical advice.
