2024-10-14 8:30 am Celebration of the Holy Mass for Monday of the 28th Week in Ordinary Time
Good morning everyone and welcome to the celebration of the Holy Mass on this Monday of the 28th Week in Ordinary Time. As we celebrate Thanksgiving today in Canada, blessings on your day and may we be filled with gratitude for all the blessings bestowed upon us. In our Gospel for today, we are invited to reflect upon the quality of our faith and the kind of signs we ask of the Lord. We hear of the frustration of Jesus in that the people are asking for a sign and yet they have seen so many through Jesus' ministry. They do not realize that they have the greatest sign before them in the person of Jesus. Our First Reading is all about freedom. There are no longer slaves or divisions of any kind. All are one in Jesus. We are all born to be free. The Gospel Acclamation states: "If today you hear God's voice, harden not your hearts". May we open our hearts to the words of our Lord and be filled with peace, joy and gratitude. The Responsorial Psalm is Psalm 113: "Blessed be the name of the Lord for ever". May your Thanksgiving be blessed.
