All: Last week we lit the candle of Hope because we are people of hope. One: Today we light the candle of peace. (light two candles) All: This light too, must brave great darkness. One: In an age when people so seldom find peace All: We are reminded to rest in God, who is our peace. One: Our hope springs new All: Our peace stands firm. Let us worship God *Hymn #5 Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silence Prayer of Confession (please be seated) Friends as we come to meet the Lord, let us confess our shortcoming to the Holy One who covers us with grace: All: Almighty God, we confess that we too often trust in ourselves and fail to rest in you. In your mercy forgive us our sin and create in us new hearts. Renew a right spirit within us and restore us with your perfect peace. Hear us now, as we silently confess to you from the quiet of our souls…... In Jesus’ Name, Amen. Assurance of Pardon One: Anyone who is in Christ is a new creation.
