"Medusa" Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin Hard Level 1, Boss 12 (No Damage)

And welcome to the boss video. This time, it's Medusa and her ever so annoying tail attack. And more to come later. Medusa Time Taken to No Damage: 20 minutes Medusa, oh you. The stonehead from all the way back in Stage 2, when the stakes are high. Just Rondo of Blood enemies glorified in technicality. But it's now a Metroidvania, so let's see what really changes. Medusa Head Swarm: Medusa covers her eyes, and lets out a swarm of Medusa Heads (Golden). It doens't do much, other than release the swarm, which can be destroyed very easily with anything. If you're that lazy to hit them, then just evade them. Snake Hands: Medusa retreats, and then strikes with her hand, which turns into a snake. First off, you should have Griffon Wing at this point, and I recommend so, so you can uppercut to safety from this attack. I suppose some boots that increase your speed could help. Tail Burrow: Medusa just stands still, and laughs? I don't know at this point. Then, her tail comes out from the ground. There's shelter in between each spot, though the hitbox can be a little janky. I'd suggest uppercutting until you get to a safe zone. Gaze: Medusa says "Conceal your eye" and then shoots a petrifying beam. Fortunately, the answer to this is to look away. If you're hit by this, then... sucks for you. Snake Rush: Medusa transforms into a snake and retreats, then rushes at the player at high speed. Once again, like the Snake Hands, Uppercut is useful. It allows you to evade it. Strategy Jonathan Vampire Killer (Powered), Bible Charlotte The Death Note, STR Boost Use STR Boost to power up Jonathan, and then whip it to its utter demise. Just remember to recharge the power boost. Bible was mostly filler for POINTS. Video Notes Recorded using MelonDS with a custom overlay. 1536x864 for main gameplay, and 1536x576 for bosses. Bosses are separated into their own episodes, releases two hours (or less) after the base episode. Here is the list of banned stuff Broken: Darts, Shuriken Neglects Challenge: Heal, Ancient Armor, Healing Mail All or Nothing: Berserker Armor, Heavy Armor, New Game+ Can't Even: Bonuses from beating the game. Misc: High Speed Grinds will try to be minimal, though Mastery will be needed for some quests (Done off-screen?) Game is played on a fresh save (New Game Level 1) And that's it for this boss. Next time, we'll be facing off against the Werewolf, but before that, we'll be travelling through 13th Street instead.
