YinYang yoga twists and side-bends

YinYang yoga twists and side-bends

This class "aired" during Berlin Spring - time when my body naturally gravitates towards more twists and side-bends on the mat. Yin and Yang for me is not simply a way to call a style of yoga but these terms stands for the cyclical nature of everything. In a yearly cycle Winter is the most Yin, Summer the most Yang and of course Spring then is moving from Yin to Yang and Autumn moving from Yang to Yin. Yin calls inward, downward into stillness, reflection, deeper connection to ourselves (spirit), subtlety. Yang calls outward, upward into movement, expression, outer connection to world and others. The pace, tempo, intensity and direction of our practice might also follow that seasonal dynamic, as springtime invites us to explore more expansive expressions, igniting our core, building strength along with flexibility. In this practice we will move through twists, side-bends through the lens of opening and strengthening. We will still take some longer Yin holds to (Swan, Half-moon, Twist) to keep connecting inward and allowing the poses to "work" on the deeper layers of the body.
