First Holy Communion&Mass on the Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ at St Martin's,Tranent-22/11/20

Welcome to Mass on the Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, Universal King. The end of the liturgical year crowned by this feast celebrating Jesus our Shepherd King. Speaking last Sunday during Mass for the World Day of the Poor, Pope Francis said: “Do not forget: the poor are at the heart of the Gospel; we cannot understand the Gospel without the poor. The poor are like Jesus himself, who, though rich, emptied himself, made himself poor, even taking sin upon himself: the worst kind of poverty. The poor guarantee us an eternal income. Even now they help us become rich in love. For the worst kind of poverty needing to be combatted is our poverty of love. The worst kind of poverty needing to be combatted is our poverty of love. Today’s gospel is surely a warning to us. It is our failure to love in a straightforward practical way that will be the measure by which we are judged. Love is not so much a feeling as an action, an action sometimes in opposition to our feelings – how else could we ‘love our enemies and do good to those who persecute us’. Hymns: Majesty, worship his majesty 469 As the deer pants for the water 142 He Is Lord 325 Christ is our King 771 O Lord all the world 828 *Please note that Christmas Eve Mass celebrated at St Martin's, Tranent, will be available to watch on YouTube at 5:30pm on 24/12/2020 (http://musselburghcatholic.org)
