Rolling Hills United Methodist Church Sunday Services for June 21, 2020 “God opened Hagar's eyes and she saw a well of water.” - Genesis 21.19 OUR CHURCH AT WORSHIP - June 21, 2020 - Father’s Day PRELUDE - Althea Waites CALL TO WORSHIP Psalm 86 (0:38) Leader: Be gracious to me, O Lord, for to you I cry all day long. People: Gladden the soul of your servant who trusts in you. You are my God. Leader: You, O Lord, are good and forgiving, abounding in steadfast love to all who call on you. People: You are great and do wondrous things. You alone are God. HYMN “This Is My Father's World” - Charles Dickerson (1:51) This is my Father’s world, and to my listening ears all nature sings, And round me rings the music of the spheres. This is my Father’s world: I rest me in the thought of rocks and trees, Of skies and seas; his hand the wonders wrought. This is my Father’s world. O let me ne’er forget That though the wrong seems oft so strong, God is the ruler yet. This is my Father’s world: why should my heart be sad? The Lord is King; let the heavens ring! God reigns; let the earth be glad! PRAYER OF CONFESSION AND RENEWAL (3:59) Unison: Eternal God, when days are difficult and nights are long we look to you for strength, faith, and hope. When we fall short of our own aspirations to act with generosity and grace, we ask you to forgive and restore us. When we do harm to others, knowingly or unknowingly, we lean on you to redirect us and help us make things right. In the silence, we now tell you our troubles. Bless us with your transformative love. SILENT PRAYER (5:11) WORDS OF ASSURANCE - Diane Salter (5:18) *CONGREGATIONAL RESPONSE - Charles Dickerson (5:34) Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty, Early in the morning our song shall rise to thee. Holy, holy, holy! Merciful and mighty, God in three persons, blessed Trinity! Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen. OFFERING OUR GIFTS AND OURSELVES - Althea Waites (26:42) *DOXOLOGY - Charles Dickerson (27:58) Praise God from whom all blessings flow; Praise him all creatures, here below; Praise him above, ye heavenly host; Praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost. Let us in life, in death, thy steadfast truth declare, And publish with our latest breath Thy love and guardian care. *BENEDICTION AND RESPONSE (55:10) God be with you till we meet again, by his counsels guide, uphold you, With his sheep securely fold you.
