THE BAPTISM OF OUR LORD January 7, 2024 AS WE GATHER In the aftermath of Christ’s Baptism, the Father’s voice from heaven speaks to Jesus: “You are My beloved Son; with You I am well pleased.” All goodness proceeds from God’s Word. It creates, separating light from darkness; it redeems, burying us in Baptism and raising us to new life; it sanctifies us that we may be alive to God in Christ. Through God’s Word in Baptism, we, too, are claimed to be his own, clothed with the righteousness of Christ.
