Peace Parks Foundation celebrates 25 years

Happy Birthday Peace Parks Foundation! It was 25 years ago today that Dr Anton Rupert, Prince Bernhard of The Netherlands and Dr Nelson Mandela established the organisation to secure and protect large landscapes through the creation of cross-border protected areas. Since then, Peace Parks has played a vital role in the establishment of 10 transfrontier conservation areas – or “peace parks” – across southern Africa. These protected wild spaces encompass a landscape of over one million km² and are home to the world’s largest populations of great megafauna.
