UN urges for funds to be made available to the G5 Sahel joint force

At the United Nations headquarters in New York---The Under-Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Operations has called for pledges made in support the G5 Sahel joint force to be disbursed. The funds are crucial for the G5 force to beef up its capacity to secure West Africa. In February, the European Union and its member states raised 500 million dollars in new funding for the five-nation security force.
