He answered, "I have shown you many good works at the command of my Father; for which of these are you stoning me?" The Jews answered him, "We stone you, not for a good work, but for blasphemy; because you, being a man, make yourself God." Jesus answered them, "Is it not written in your Law, 'I tell you, you are gods'? If the Scripture calls those to whom the word of God came gods, and the Scripture, whom the Father consecrated and sent into the world, cannot be changed, do you say, 'You blaspheme!'" Why did I say, 'I am the Son of God'? If I do not do the works of my Father, do not believe me; but if I do them, even if you do not believe me, believe the works, so that you may understand and know that the Father is in me, and I am in the Father." They tried again to stop him, but he slipped through their fingers. He went back across the Jordan to the place where John had baptized earlier, and remained there. Many came to him and said, "John did not perform a sign, but everything John said about this man was true." And many believed in him there. Word of the Lord. Three Messages from Today's Gospel: 1.
