Welcome to week 27 of pregnancy! This week, baby's about the size of a head of cabbage/cauliflower (or maybe a Barbie?). Key highlights include baby building body muscle as it moves around more, and fully developed brain stem! Baby’s hearing has developed enough now that they can start to distinguish different voices from within the womb. For expectant mothers, Roxanne discusses the increase in round ligament pain (AKA lightning crotch), and the natural raise back to your pre pregnancy blood pressure, which is normal and expected. We are only concerned if it rises above like 140 over 90, or you start having symptoms along with an elevated blood pressure, like you start having any headaches that aren't controlled with Tylenol, any pain around right upper side of your abdomen, epigastric pain (pain in your chest similar to heartburn), or sudden and severe swelling. If you are experiencing these symptoms, please meet with your provider asap! You may also be experiencing some urinary incontinence when you sneeze, cough, or vomit due to all of the extra pressure on your pelvic floor.
