Boris Johnson's only path is to ‘crash out’ of the EU
It looks increasingly likely the UK will “wind up crashing out” of the EU as an agreement has become evermore unlikely, according to James Morrow. The Brexit transition period is set to end on December 31, leaving the UK and EU with days to work out a post-Brexit trade deal, whilst also addressing key sticking points. UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson will fly to Brussels to work out a deal “face-to-face” with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen in an attempt to work through the issues. One of the key issues is the Northern Ireland border, as the British territory would be the only place where the UK has a hard border with Europe. Mr Morrow said the border issue was a “time bomb” which was placed into negotiations by the EU to try and keep the UK in Europe. “It looks like they’ll end up crashing out. That’s the only path Boris has,” he said. “If he doesn’t do it then I think the politics for him become very dire and diabolical.”
