Blown up RIFA capacitor in my Sony VO-5850 U-Matic VCR

This is a video on replacing a blown cap in my U-Matic VCR's power supply. I was attempting to transfer a couple of U-Matic videocassettes on my Sony VO-5850 U-Matic VCR and I heard a "BANG!!!" and saw smoke coming out the back of the VCR and I thought that was the end of the VCR. Fortunately that was not the case, the problem so happen to be just a blown RIFA brand capacitor in the mains power supply. I Googled the brand name and up came Dr Cassette's YouTube video    • WARNING! Bad RIFA capacitors!   explaining how these caps were notorious for blowing up after a while so yeah, RIFA capacitors are pretty crappy made capacitors. I replaced the blown cap with a mylar cap of equivalent value and that fixed the problem and the VCR works again and I carried on transferring those tapes!:D
