A time when Lord Ganesha, the remover of obstacles, blesses us with happiness, prosperity, and good fortune. And what better way to please our beloved Bappa than with his favourite sweet—Modak? Today, we’ll learn how to make the perfect traditional Ukadiche Modak—steamed Modaks filled with coconut and jaggery. It’s a simple recipe, filled with love and flavour. Ingredients: Wheat Flour 2 Cups Jaggery 1 Cup Grated Coconut 1 Cup Ghee Cardamom Powder 1 Tea Spoon Dry Fruits - Almonds , Cashew, Pista Steps : -First, let’s start with the outer shell. In a mixing bowl, take 2 cup of Wheat flour. Add a pinch of salt and mix in 1 cup of boiling water gradually. Stir it until a soft, smooth dough is formed. Let it rest for 10 minutes. While the dough rests, make the sweet coconut-jaggery filling. Heat 1 tablespoon of ghee in a pan. Add 1 cup of freshly grated coconut and 1 cup of Jaggery. Stir on medium heat until the Jaggery melts and combines with the coconut. Add a pinch of cardamom powder for that extra aroma. Cook this until the mixture thickens slightly and then set it aside to cool. Now, take small portions of the dough and roll them into smooth balls. Grease your palms with a little ghee to avoid sticking. Flatten each ball to form a small bowl shape, making sure the edges are thinner than the center. Place a spoonful of the coconut-jaggery filling in the center of the dough. Now, carefully pinch the edges to form pleats and bring them together at the top, sealing it into a beautiful modak shape. If you’re new to making pleats, don’t worry—each one will get better! Once all your Modaks are shaped, it’s time to steam them. Place the Modaks in a greased steamer, leaving a little space between them. Steam on medium heat for 10–12 minutes or until the outer shell becomes translucent. After steaming, your Modaks are ready to be served! These delicate, fragrant dumplings are a true delight for Lord Ganesha. For the finishing touch, brush a little ghee over the Modaks for added richness. Place them on your festive platter and offer them with love during Ganesh aarti. Lord Ganesha is sure to bless your home with joy and abundance. May these homemade Modaks bring sweetness to your Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations and may Lord Ganesha bless you and your family with wisdom, prosperity, and happiness. Thank you for watching!
