Pokemon Platinum Hardcore Nuzlocke (No Wild Pokemon): Monferno vs Roark

I felt like starting a Hardcore Nuzlocke of Pokemon Platinum Version with an added twist: I'm not allowed to catch or knock out any wild Pokemon. It's possible to get to level 14 by fighting various trainers before Roark, and spamming Rock Smash should usually do the trick for this fight. It's not entirely consistent, but it should work most of the time. In case you don't know, a hardcore nuzlocke is one of the most popular Pokemon challenges in the community lately. The following basic rules follow: You can only catch the first Pokemon you find on a route/area. If a Pokemon faints, you can never use it again. You're not allowed to use items in battle, besides held items that your Pokemon have. Your Pokemon are not allowed to exceed the level of the upcoming gym leader's highest-leveled Pokemon until the start of that gym battle. Roark's Cranidos is level 14, so my Monferno was also level 14 at the start of this fight.
