Making Korean Galbi (Marinated Short Ribs)

Korean Galbi is really one of the star dishes of Korean cuisine. It can be made with any kind of short rib. For this one I used the LA galbi (3 bones) and another kind of short rib with a longer bone (from local Hmart) which has more meat and I prefer it. I used about 4lbs of short ribs. First left the short ribs in water for an hour then washed it. For the marinade I blended: 10 garlic cloves 1 tbsp ginger 1/2 onion 1 whole Korean pear 1/2 cup brown sugar 1/2 cup soy sauce 1 tbsp sesame oil 1/2 tbsp black pepper. Marinate ribs for 6hrs or overnight. The radish kimchi was: 1 lb of Korean radish chopped 1 tbsp salt 1/2 tbsp sugar 3 tbsp gochugaru 1 tbsp fish sauce 1 tbsp sesame seeds 1/2 tbsp minced garlic 2 tbsp minced green onions
