Want to know how to make your plants happy? Getting the soil right is one of the ways in which we help our plants thrive! Many houseplants are grown in compost which retains a lot of water (to lessen the risk of drying out) but long term this isn't great. Roots require oxygen, water and nutrients to support a healthy plant. This mix resists compacting around roots and let's excess water drain easily. I've used - 2 parts peatfree compost 1 part perlite 1 part orchid bark mix 1 part horticultural grit These items are widely available at garden centres and places like @bandq_uk. Having a bag of each let's me alter the mix for different plants but this is my basic mix!
