My Experience of Visiting Maha Kumbh Mela | Triveni Sangam Ghat (VIP Ghat) | Prayagraj 2025
Trip Report: Visit to Maha Kumbh Mela, Prayagraj Date of Journey: 18-20 February 2025 Departure: Boarded the 09405 Ahmedabad - Janghai Maha Kumbh Mela Special from Govindpuri station, Kanpur, en route to Prayagraj. The train journey was smooth, and anticipation built up as the train approached the spiritual city of Prayagraj. Arrival in Prayagraj: Upon reaching Prayagraj, I was greeted by an enormous crowd of devotees, all converging to take part in the grand Maha Kumbh Mela. The energy and devotion in the air were palpable, setting the tone for an enriching experience. Journey to the Sangam Ghat: After arrival, I arranged for a local conveyance to Chungi. From there, I continued on foot, walking several kilometers to Sangam Ghat. The walk was long but rewarding, offering glimpses of vibrant festivities, religious processions, and devotional chants filling the air. Camp Stay & Rest: Upon reaching the camp area, I checked into my temporary accommodation and took some much-needed rest after the journey and long walk. Visit to Triveni Sangam Ghat: In the afternoon, I made my way to Triveni Sangam Ghat, the sacred confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and the mythical Saraswati rivers. The sight was breathtaking, with thousands of devotees gathered to perform rituals and take the holy dip. Boat Ride & Holy Dip: I took a jetty boat from the riverbank to the VIP Ghat. Upon arrival, I immersed myself in the sacred waters, experiencing a spiritual rejuvenation. The holy dip at the confluence was a surreal moment, marking the pinnacle of my visit. Return to the Camp: After completing the rituals, I took the jetty back to the riverbank and walked back to the camp for some rest and reflection on the day's experiences. Departure from Prayagraj: The next morning, I departed from the Kumbh Mela site amid heavy crowds. The experience of witnessing such a massive gathering of devotees, all sharing a common faith, was truly unforgettable. Return Journey: Boarded the 15004 Gorakhpur - Kanpur Anwarganj Chauri Chaura Express from Prayagraj to Kanpur. The return journey was filled with reflections on the spiritual significance of the Maha Kumbh Mela and the deep cultural and religious heritage of India. Conclusion: The trip to the Maha Kumbh Mela was an extraordinary experience, marked by devotion, faith, and an overwhelming sense of unity among millions of pilgrims. From the holy dip at Sangam to the vibrant atmosphere of the Mela, every moment was enriching and spiritually uplifting. This journey will remain a cherished memory for a lifetime.
