Construction worker struck by vehicle on I-90 in Westlake, taken to hospital with serious injuries

A construction worker was seriously hurt after being struck by a vehicle in Westlake early Tuesday morning. ODOT spokesperson Matt Bruning tells 3News the incident happened during the early morning hours as a construction company was setting up a work zone on I-90 West at Columbia Road. “The employee sustained serious injuries and was transported to the hospital,” Bruning said. Westlake police are now asking for the public's help in finding the driver involved. "The vehicle that struck the male fled the scene westbound and has not currently been identified," according to a Facebook post from Westlake police. "Witnesses believed the vehicle was a silver SUV and vehicle parts left behind identified it as most likely (but not for sure) a Honda." Police say the vehicle should have a damaged passenger-side door mirror as well as passenger-side front damage.
