Are there special issues that primary care doctors should know about people with spinal cord injury (SCI) and their blood pressure (BP)? In a word, yes!! People with SCI often have lower resting BP, and those with injuries at T6 or above are more likely to have dangerous spikes or drops in their BPs. After viewing this session, you should be able to: • Interpret "normal" blood pressure levels for people with SCI and understand who might be at more risk for BP issues. Blood Pressure is often unstable in people with SCI because their damaged nervous system does not perform the automatic constriction or dilation of blood vessels does not occur or is impaired.
