Find Rational Number Halfway Between Two Distinct Rational Numbers | Algebra 2
Let a/b and c/d be two distinct rational numbers. We want to find the rational number that lies exactly halfway between a/b and c/d on a number line. This is a challenge exercise from Section 1.1 in Larson's Algebra 2. #AlgebraII There are two solutions to this problem we'll describe. The first comes from noticing the average of two numbers is exactly halfway between them, so we can find the number halfway between them by taking an average - add and divide by 2. The second solution is more carefully thought out, using a number line and an equation, we just have to solve for x!
