Frank Sinatra – Witchcraft – 1957 [HQ REMASTER in DES STEREO]
This is Frank's & Nelson's 1st recording of “Witchcraft”, recorded on May 20, 1957 at the brand-new Capitol Recording Studios in Hollywood in MONO only. It was released on 7" 45 RPM and 10" 78 RPM on December 23, 1957. It reached #6 on the Billboard Top 100. This was one of the last Mono recordings to come out of Capitol that was destined for release on LP, as they were rapidly gearing-up for Stereo at this time. I was amazed that this recording was fairly muddy and lack-luster, considering it was recorded on the best vacuum-tube equipment that ever existed by some of the best engineers in the business. I thought I’d breathe new life into it by giving it my signature MONO-to-STEREO conversion. Although Frank & Nelson went back to Capitol’s Studio A to record it in Stereo in April 1963 for the album “Sinatra’s Sinatra”, I wanted to do my best to make this original version sparkle like new. Technical Information: I used SPLEETER v1.1 to separate the components [Vocal, Accompaniment, Drums & Bass] into 4 separate tracks. Adobe Audition was used for Dynamic Range recovery, Delay, Reverb, EQ and final mixdown. NERO 2019 Platinum used to generate the video. Music composed by Cy Coleman with lyrics by Carolyn Leigh Enjoy my MONO-to-STEREO conversion of Frank Sinatra’s original 1957 recording of “Witchcraft” with Nelson Riddle and his Orchestra.
